Chasing the Leprechaun!

Emma insisted that if we found clovers and followed them that we would find a rainbow and a pot of gold! She had been telling me this for a couple of days and as soon as she realized that today was St. Patricks Day, she exclaimed; "Come on Mom, we have to find a clover!" Vince was already prepared for her. He had asked me yesterday to get rainbow twizzlers and gold coins. First thing this morning he cut out several green shamrocks and taped them on trees throughout the woods leading Emma to the creek where she would find her rainbow and pot of gold! Isn't Vince awesome?

Fun with Foamy Paint!!
After preschool today, Emma kept insisting that we make play-dough. I have this awesome book (The Ultimate Book of Kid's Concoctions), that has very fun recipes. I talked her into looking at it and choosing a "special" dough to make. We finally settled on Jewel & Gem Goop, and it was a flop (sometimes that happens). I didn't seem to have everything needed to make all of the other cool doughs, so we settled on making Foamy Paint! It was easy and she loved it. Of course, it ended up all over her face since she knew it was shaving cream! Here is how ya do it:You'll need: 1 can white shaving cream
Food Coloring
Plastic ice cube tray or muffin tin
Place a small dab of shaving cream into several ice cube tray or muffin tin sections. Add 1-2 drops of food coloring to each section and mix with a small spoon. (Actually, a knife would work better since the cream stuck into the spoon). It can be used to finger paint, make 3-D foam sculptures, or to paint on your arms or legs. You can use it on paper or on tile floors or a table top. It is also a good lesson in mixing colors! I'm so thankful to have a second time around at all of this fun stuff. I'm so thankful for Emma!

Glen's in the Indy Star Today

Well, my phone rang first thing this morning. It was my sister-in-law Beverly telling me that Glen's picture was in the newspaper today. Well, I knew the writer for the garden section of the paper had talked to us and taken his picture, but that was over a week ago and we had never seen his picture, so we just figured she decided not to write about that event. Here is a link to the article...

I do have to say that the potatoes and the watermelon were both delicious!

If only you could have seen it!
I wish I had a video of this event...I'm sure it would get tons of hits on YouTube! Anyway, we had some car trouble yesterday and are short one car. Sooo, that means I had to get up at 3:50 AM to take my dear hubby to work so that Joel could have a car for seminary, school and work. Well, today is trash day in our neighborhood and we had tons of trash this week because we cleaned out our garage. Anyway, when I got back home at about 4:45 AM I noticed that one of the trash cans were knocked over and trash was laying everywhere. As I was pulling into the driveway I saw a gigantic racoon gorging himself on our trash! It mad me so mad! I starting chasing it through my yard. Yes, I was still in the car....driving like a maniac through my front yard. I noticed a few cars driving by and I can only imagine what they were thinking. The racoon was not remotely afraid of me. I had to keep charging at it until I almost ran over it to spook it. Finally he ran to the back yard and I pulled my evil self together and parked the car in the driveway and went into my house like a normal person!
