Vinnies Last Basketball Game!

Vince and his best buddy Jacob joined a homeschool intramural basketball league this year. They had alot of fun without the stress of intense competition. He says the drills were okay, but what he liked best was playing the games.

Another Basketball Season....

Another basketball season is coming to a close. This was season #6 for Glen. He was on the Denver Nuggets this year and his number happened to be 6. His nickname became 6 peice! His best buddy Josh played for the celtics this year and his nickname was Semi. (He liked to run over the opponents!) :) They got to play each other in the closing game of the season. The celtics won by 3 points . It was an awesome game. Both teams entered the tournament and won very close games in the first round. We celebrated with dinner at Arby's. Two days later they played in the semi-finals and both teams lost a close race. It was disappointing, but both boys knew they had played their best. The Nuggets had played with all of their hearts, and at the end of the game, the coach couldn't help but give them all a group hug! It was awesome! We celebrated that night at Taco Bell. Here is Glen's team receiving their trophies...

It was fun to watch Glen play this year. He is a hard worker with alot of determination. You could just see it on his face sometimes. He plays with so much heart that you can't help but cheer for him. He shows great sportsmanship and is a good example. He is really looking forward to playing for the Wildcats next year!
Here he is at the free throw line...

Congrats to Glen!

Well, after alot of hard work, Glen earned his Weeblo award at pack meeting last night.

He is such a hardworker and really tries to do his best at everything. I am really proud of him. He's now working on finishing his Arrow of Light and Faith in God and in a few weeks he will be a Boy Scout! The pack meeting was fun. The theme was "Litter to Glitter".

Each boy and his family had to take piece of trash and make a list of all the ways we could think of to use it. We had an apple juice bottle. Then each boy shared what they came up with. Some of ours were water storage, vase, drum (it made 3 different sounds) and ring toss.

I got all kinds of cute ideas for toys from trash and our Cubmaster made awesome trophies from trash. You can see Glen's trophy in the top picture.

1,2,3, HIT IT!

FHE was fun Monday. No matter how hard we try, we can't ever have a serious moment without hysterical laughter for some reason. It all started tonight when Emma was the song leader. She ran to the piano to get Glen's conducting stick and got in position and said "1,2,3,Hit it!

She then began leading us in I am a Child of God. We were all rolling in the floor laughing. Vince started by teaching Emma about Easter with a cute little book he made from the Friend Magazine. Since Sunday was our family's first rehearsal with the ward choir (and my boys weren't happy about it), Rich and I had decided to have a Music theme for FHE. Glen did research on the history of LDS Hymns and shared that with us along with the First Presidency Message in the front of the Hymnbook.

Then Joel shared information that he had found about listening to appropriate music. His summary was quite amazing to me...He said that when we listen to inappropriate music, we are misusing the purpose for which the Lord intended it. Now, that's food for thought. Do we really realize that music is a gift from God with a purpose? I know that, but do I really think about it?
Vince then had us take turns reading quotes on music from church leaders. Rich shared thoughts about the importance of music in our church meetings. I bore my testimony about the power of music to teach and inspire and then we went into the Living Room for a little rehearsal so that everyone would be better prepared for choir practice this week. It started out rough, but after a few minutes, I actually think everyone was getting into it. I loved hearing my boys harmonizing with each other. I have to admit...we had to ask Dad to quiet down just a little. He is an enthusiastic singer....

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Pat's Day!
Graphics and Myspace Layouts at pYzam.com

Happy St. Patricks Day! It's always a fun day. I get a kick out of the kids on the school bus and the crazy things they wear on March 17th every year. I was trying to explain St. Patrick's Day to Emma and she very boldly exclaimed that she didn't want to go to St. Patrick's Day. I tried to explain to her that we weren't necessarily going anywhere, but she was still upset. I finally realized it's because she doesn't like her "green" outfit. She has an olive green shirt that I love and make her wear every now and then, but she hates it. So, as soon as I said we had to wear green today, she decided she didn't like St. Patrick's day! Of course the boys aren't too sure about it either since I mentioned corned beef and cabbage for dinner!

OH MY GOSH!!!....Joel is driving

2/21/08
Well, I've reached a new milestone in parenting! My firstborn has his driver's license. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Actually, I think I did both. The long awaited for day finally arrived and Joel woke up sick. We stopped at Shell to sweep the van and he grabbed a Sprite in hopes that his stomach would calm down!
We drove to the Ameriplex License Branch and he met up with the lady who was taking him out for a driving test. I had to giggle as I watched her struggle with the seatbelt. Anyone who has ridden in our van will understand. After a few minutes of impatiently waiting...looking out the window every 30 seconds to see if they were back...the trusty ole' van pulled into the parking lot...in one piece, luckily! Within minutes, Joel was the proud owner of a shiny new driver's license.
I have to say that I am really proud of him. He trys really hard to make good choices and really is a pretty good driver. One of his friends called him while he was driving last night, and he told her he would call her back when he got home! I wish a few adults on the road would put their phones away while their driving! Some people really scare me! I've made a deal with him that if he makes it to age 21 without an accident, that I will give him $2000. I'm guessing it's a safe bet on my part, but honestly, I would be thrilled to pay out if he wins!

MY BOYS GOT YELLED AT BY A HAG WITH NO TEETH!

Okay, so the boys made up the title, but what is a mom supposed to do? The boys were doing their parking lot cleaning job and a lady at the Family Dollar totally started chewing them out because of the mess they have around their dumpster. I was trying to sit back and let them handle it, but I was starting to lose it. Luckily, the boys walked away from her before I got out of the car. Joel amazed himself because he actually was sorta rude to her. Rudeness is not unusual for him around home, but I don't think he's ever rude in public!
